Yard Waste Collection Schedule

The City of Elkins curb-side Yard Waste Collection is underway; monthly collection will be held on the FIRST Tuesday of each month on the following dates this year: August 5 and September 2.  Yard waste will be collected as quickly as possible but it varies from month-to-month as to how much time it takes in each ward – due to this fact, residents of all wards are being asked to have their yard waste out by the curb by 5:30 a.m. on the above-stated collection dates; if we don’t get it that day, we will get it in the next day or two - depending on how much time the current collection is taking.

Acceptable items include:  grass, tree, & shrub trimmings; vegetative landscaping materials; leaves & hay; plant debris; branches & brush up to 2 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length tied with a string or twine in manageable bundles (no wires or plastic ties).

Unacceptable items include:  plastics; treated wood; construction/demolition debris; household trash; animal waste; non-organic material; yard waste containing concrete, rocks, sod, or dirt; anything over 50 pounds.

Residents may also take Yard Waste to the Waste Water Collection & Transmission Department (located at 31 Jones Drive / 304-636-2058) Mondays – Fridays from 6am – 2pm.
