D&E Night Out

ON TRAC & the city of Elkins will host D&E Night on the Town: Fire & Ice beginning at 5pm Friday, February 6 in downtown Elkins. Activities include performances by Ohio Burn Unit, an ice skating rink, music and comedy. For additional information, call 304-637-1211 or visit www.dewv.edu.

25th Annual Groundhog Feed

Central Upshur Lions Club invites everyone to break that cabin fever and come out for the 25th Annual Groundhog Feed fundraising brunch on Saturday, February 7, at the Banks District VFD / Community Center at Rock Cave from 7:00am until 1:00pm.  The menu includes pancakes and sausage, coffee, juice & milk.  The cost is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for youth 6 to 12 & children under 6 are free.

Proceeds from the fundraising event are used to support Lions Club community activities including eyeglasses and exams for those who cannot afford them, sight conservation education, projects in support of the youth of the county, and maintaining wheelchairs and strollers for use by visitors to the West Virginia Wildlife Center.  WANTED – used eyeglasses for reuse in developing countries

Fun Day in Junior

Free concert

Davis & Elkins College Artist-in-Residence Jack Gibbons will perform Mozart: "Viva, Viva Grande Mozart," at 2pm Sunday, February 8 in Robbins Memorial Chapel on the College campus. The concert is the second in Gibbons’ series, "Music with Stories: What Makes a Great Composer?,” which will take place the second Sunday of each month through April. Honky Tonk Dance

A honky-tonk dance, sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College & The Mountain Dance Trail, will take place at 8pm Friday, Feb. 13 in the Pit Dance Studio in Myles Center for the Arts on the campus of D&E College. A dance workshop will precede the dance at 7:30pm. Music will be provided by Jesse Milnes and Emily Miller. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students & AmeriCorps members and free to Davis & Elkins students, faculty and staff. Pepperoni Roll Dinner

Elkins Middle School is having a pepperoni roll dinner on Friday, Feb 13 from 3pm to 6pm. The dinner includes a pepperoni roll, mac-n-cheese, dessert & drink for $6.00… Eat-in or carry-out, tickets available at the school office or from any staff member.

D&E College Open House

Davis & Elkins College will host an Open House for prospective students and their families from 10am to 2 pm on Feb. 16. The tentative schedule includes a meet and greet with faculty and financial planning representatives, a welcome in the historic Halliehurst Mansion, and a tour of the 170-acre campus with a stop in Booth Library.
